Elizabeth Woods

EAST PRAIRIE - Elizabeth Mae Woods, 79, died at 4:15 a.m. Jan. 6, 2004, at the East Prairie Nursing Center.

Born May 8, 1924, in Hickman County, Ky., daughter of the late James Edgar "Ed" and Dessie Newton Rhodes, she lived in Mississippi County most of her life. She was a member of Victory Baptist Church in East Prairie.

On Sept. 21, 1941, she married Gene Ray Woods who preceded her in death on Jan. 14, 1997.

Survivors include: seven sons, Jewel Woods of Granite City, Ill., Vernon Woods of Sikeston, Jimmy Woods of Matthews and Ronnie Woods, Bruce Woods, Todd Woods and Darrell Woods of East Prairie; two daughters, Shirley Hutson and Brenda Bolden of East Prairie; one brother, Wilton Rhodes of Anniston; and 17 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by four sons, Gary Wayne Woods, Ray Presson Woods and infant twins; and one brother.

Visitation begins at 5 p.m. Thursday at Shelby Funeral Home, where services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday with Mike Johnson, officiating.

Burial will follow in the Anniston Cemetery.
