SCOTT CITY - Jerry "Nordie" Ancell, 63, died at 5:55 a.m. Feb. 20, 2004, at his home. Born Dec. 20, 1940, in Scott County, son of the late Norval and Gerald Swope Ancell, he retired in February 2000 as a railroad engineer for the Union Pacific Railroad. SCOTT CITY - Jerry "Nordie" Ancell, 63, died at 5:55 a.m. Feb. 20, 2004, at his home.

Born Dec. 20, 1940, in Scott County, son of the late Norval and Gerald Swope Ancell, he retired in February 2000 as a railroad engineer for the Union Pacific Railroad. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers.

On Sept. 19, 1959, at Illmo, he married Millie Sue Wolfe who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: one son, Jerry "Bub" Ancell Jr. of Louisville, Miss.; one son, Robin Walker of Benton; two sisters, Jackie Presson of Anniston and Rahe Wise of Jackson; and 10 grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were one son, Gregory Todd Ancell on Nov. 3, 1990; and one brother.

Services were conducted at 2 p.m. today at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City with the Rev. Charles Carr officiating.
