MARBLE HILL - Edna Barks, 84, formerly of Puxico, died May 12, 2004, at Elder Care of Marble Hill. Born Nov. 10, 1919, in McGee, daughter of the late Peter Shade and Gladys Hefner Rodgers, she retired from Bussman Fuse after 25 years of service. She attended the Puxico Baptist Church, was a member of the Good Neighbor Quilting Club in McGee and was a volunteer for the Wappapello Civic Center for more than 10 years...

MARBLE HILL - Edna Barks, 84, formerly of Puxico, died May 12, 2004, at Elder Care of Marble Hill.

Born Nov. 10, 1919, in McGee, daughter of the late Peter Shade and Gladys Hefner Rodgers, she retired from Bussman Fuse after 25 years of service. She attended the Puxico Baptist Church, was a member of the Good Neighbor Quilting Club in McGee and was a volunteer for the Wappapello Civic Center for more than 10 years.

On Dec. 4, 1935, at McGee, she married Sherman Barks who survives of Greenville.

Other survivors include: one son, Marvin Barks of Silva; two daughters, Louise Brotherton of Marble Hill and Eula Smith of Plainwell, Mich.; two brothers, Henry Rodgers of Tule Lake, Calif., and Peter Shade Rodgers of Cape Girardeau; two sisters, Lois Wilfong of McGee and Mary Jane Barks of Cahokia, Ill.; and seven grandchildren 15 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Virgil Rodgers and Lyman Rodgers; and one sister, Thelma Stephens.

Visitation begins at 6 p.m. Friday at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Puxico, where services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday. The Rev. Kenneth Lambert of Bloomfield and the Rev. Ray Placher of Puxico will officiate.

Burial will follow in the New Hope Cemetery near McGee.
