David Abner Jr.

EAST PRAIRIE -- David Charles Abner Jr., 26, died Dec. 7, 2003, from injuries sustained in a car accident.

Born May 8, 1977, in Sikeston son of David Charles Sr. and Rhonda G. Poore Abner of Bertrand, he had lived all of his life in Mississippi County where he was a 1995 graduate of Charleston High School. He was employed as a welder with Butler Machinery in Charleston.

In addition to his parents, survivors include: one son, Chance David Abner of Bertrand; his maternal grandmother, Shirley Poore of East Prairie; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, James Poore; and paternal grandparents, Charles "Poss" Abner and Geneva Parker Abner.

Visitation is after 5 p.m. Tuesday at Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie where services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday. Martin Lucas will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Dogwood Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be: Geoffrey Butler, Newton "Red" Butler, James Smith, Justin Smith, Charlie Tatum and Greg Abner.
