Opal Stanford

NEW MADRID -- Opal "Brown" Stanford, formerly of Jaywye, died July 19, 2002, at Beverly Healthcare in New Madrid.

Daughter of the late Francis Marion and Mattie Ezell Brown, she was a member of the Point Pleasant Baptist Church and past member of the Eastern Star.

Her husband, Ernest Cole Stanford, preceded her in death.

Survivors include: two daughters: Natalie Irvin Griffith of Risco and Patsy Swilley of Houlka, Miss.; one sister, Vivian Solomonson of Omaha, Neb.; and six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one son, Ernest DeWayne Stanford; four sisters, Laura Campbell, Lena Fleming, Alice Gieske, Tennie Mashburn; and three brothers, Coleman Brown, Henry Brown and Edmond Brown.

Visitation is at 6 p.m. today at DeLisle Funeral Home in Portageville, where services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday with the Rev. Gene Lancaster officiating.

Burial will follow at Mounds Park Cemetery in Lilbourn.
