Lawrence Mathenia

PACIFIC -- Lawrence Mathenia, 61, formerly of Portageville, died July 19, 2002, at his mother's home in Hayward.

Born July 22, 1940, in Pemiscot county, son of the late Earl Thomas Mathenia Sr. and Ida Honeysuckle Mathenia who survives of the home.

Retired from Chrysler Corporation after working there for 23 years, he was a member of Local 136 and was a past member of the Methodist church.

On Sept. 2, 1961, in Portageville, he married Leota Faye Famer who survives of the home.

Survivors include: one son, Mark Allen Mathenia of Labadie; two daughters, Tina Faye Dean of Catawissa and Kelly Leann Mathenia of Robertsville; four brothers, Thomas Burl Mathenia of Imperial, Loyd Dean Mathenia of Naples, Fla., Claude L. Mathenia of Bloomsdale and Thomas Earl Mathenia Jr. of Village Ridge. One grandchild, Melissa Faye Dean also survives.

He was preceded in death by one son, Larry Gene Mathenia.

Services are scheduled for 5 p.m. today at DeLisle Funeral Home, where services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Monday. The Rev. Dr. Tom Walls will officiate.

Burial will follow in Portageville Cemetery.
