FORT WAYNE, Ind. - Alonzo "Lonnie" Cole, 82, formerly of Sikeston, Mo., died Feb. 10, 2002, at the Carriage Manor Nursing Home in Goshen.

Born Dec. 29, 1919, in Scott County, Mo., son of the late Ollie and Rowena Heacox Cole Sr., he was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a long distance truck driver for many years before retiring.

His wife, Eleanor Cole, preceded him in death in March 2000.

Survivors include: two daughters, Vicky Evans of Troy, Ill., and Elaine LeRosox of Parker, Colo.; one stepson, Lani Norton of Fort Wayne; two stepdaughters, Tammy Norton and Marjorie Norton of Fort Wayne; one sister, Boots Lockhart of Galloway, N.J.; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by one infant son; two brothers, Ollie "O.C." Cole Jr. and Les Cole; and one sister, Golda Koester.

A memorial service is scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday at Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston. The Rev. Lee Fansler, pastor of the Blodgett Baptist Church, will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Morley Cemetery.
