CLARKSTON, Mich. - James Chester Jennings Sr., 86, died July 14, 2002, at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Pontiac.

Born Dec. 5, 1915, at Dexter, Mo., son of the late Carrie Jennings Chase and stepson of the late Sylvester Chase, he was a member of the Waterford Community Church in Waterford. A U.S. Army veteran of World War II and member of the Masonic Lodge, he was a tool and die maker for General Motors before retiring.

On May 25, 1940, at Napoleon, Ohio, he married Aurellia Ione Minton who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: two sons, James Chester Jennings Jr. of Clarkston and Roy Burton Jennings of Sunbury, Ohio; two daughters, Beverly Jane Anderson of Clarkston and Karen Ethel Jennings of Lake Orion; and nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Two brothers, Clarence Chase and Cecil Chase, preceded him in death.

Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter.

Services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Pleasant Grove Church near Dexter with the Rev. Ron Williams officiating.

Burial will follow in the Sycamore Cemetery.
