DELTA - Kathryn Ruth Smith, 80, died May 12, 2004, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

Born Jan. 2, 1924, in Balwin, N.C., daughter of the late Hamilton Donely and Ruth Alma Greer Edwards, she had worked at Triumph Explosives Inc. in Elkton, Md., during World War II and retired as a custodian for Delta Grade School. A member of the General Baptist Church at Arbor, she was a lifetime member of Bethany United Methodist Church in Asheville, N.C.

On Nov. 6, 1943, at Elkton, she married Clyde Harold Smith who preceded her in death on May 1, 1993.

Survivors include: two sons, Ronnie Smith of Jefferson City and Bob Smith of Chaffee; one daughter, Donna Cannon of Chaffee; one sister, Peggy Rinehart of Biglerville, Pa.; and seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

One brother also preceded her in death.

Visitation begins at 4 p.m. Sunday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee where services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday. The Rev. Kermit Patton will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery near Arbor.
