SIKESTON - Connie Blow and Chantal Sparks will represent Sikeston in the 4A girls state track meet this weekend in Jefferson City. Blow qualified in the shot put; Sparks will compete in the 1,600-meter run.

NEW MADRID - Before riding their bicycles, Ashley, 8, and Betsy, 6, know to make sure their helmets are secure. The daughters of Don and Laurie Brittian, the youngsters have worn bicycle helmets since receiving their first bikes. In 1993, 800 Missourians were injured in a bike accident.

SIKESTON - Leslie Powell, 10, will represent Sikeston at the PowerFest '94 Championship in San Diego. Leslie beat out numerous competitors to win the all-expense-paid trip. The initial Nintendo contest was conducted at Wal-Mart over the weekend.
