Jewel Talkington

DEXTER -- Jewel Talkington, 96, died May 13, 2004, at the Crowley Ridge Care Center in Dexter.

Born Aug. 12, 1907, in Moreland, Ark., daughter of the late Benjamin Washington and Martha Ellen Duvall Turner, since 1946 she had been living in Dexter where she was a member of the Church of Christ.

On Nov. 11, 1925, she married H. Berkley Talkington who preceded her in death on July 8, 1972.

Five brothers and four sisters also preceded her in death.

Survivors include: two sons, Larry Don Talkington of Bryan, Ohio, and Danny Talkington of Grayridge; three daughters, Katherine Sheppard of Hernando, Miss., Shirley Gibbs of Risco and Phyllis Norrid-Crites of Essex; and 10 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. today at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter with Dale Grissom of Dexter officiating.

Burial will follow in the Hagy Cemetery at Dexter.
