Mike Cox
SIKESTON - James "Mike" Cox, 58, died May 15, 2004, at his home.
Born March 6, 1946, in Sikeston, son of the late James L. and Mary Olivia Tompkins Cox, he served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War and was a letter carrier for the U.S. Post Office before retiring. He was a member of the Murray Lane Baptist Church where he served as a deacon.
On Feb. 28, 1969, he married Frances Kay Johnson who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: two sons, David M. Cox of St. Louis and Bradley R. Cox of East Prairie; one brother, Tom Tompkins of St. Louis; one sister and brother-in-law, Patti and Gary Hafner of Wisconsin; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. today at Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston where funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday with Kelly Grubbs, paster of Murray Lane Baptist Church, officiating.
Burial will follow in the Sikeston Garden of Memories Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be: Gene Bohannon, Jack Watkins, Gene Shaw, Harold Beaird, Lynn Nance, and Charles Evans.
