CHAFFEE -- Mildred J. White, 83, died at 7:40 a.m. Feb. 16, 2003, at her home.

Born March 16, 1919, in Advance, daughter of the late Benjamin Franklin and Lina Carolina Cato Brown, she retired as a laser for Sports Specialty Shoe Factory in Chaffee and was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Chaffee.

On Oct. 27, 1934, she married Ernest "Rip" White who preceded her in death on May 30, 1990.

One daughter, three brothers, two sisters, one granddaughter and one great-granddaughter also preceded her in death.

Survivors include: two sons, Francis White of Chaffee and Eddie White of Jackson; two daughters, Doris Schlitt of Chaffee and Nancy Evans of Cape Girardeau; two brothers, Charles "Cot" Brown of DeSoto and Eugene "Bood" Brown of Jerseyville, Ill.; three sisters, Norma Felty and Arvella Smith of Chaffee and Shirley Woods of Cedar Hill; and 10 grandchildren, 4 stepgrandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Visitation begins after 5 p.m. Tuesday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee where services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday. The Rev. William Marshall will officiate.

Burial will follow in Forest Hills Memorial Garden Cemetery near Morley.

Pallbearers will be: Rob Schlitt, Darren Schlitt, Rickey White, Jamie Ralph and Casey McAlister.
