Richard Riddle

GLEN ALLEN -- Richard U. Riddle, 81, died April 25, 2002, at Elder Care in Marble Hill.

Born July 17, 1920, at Poplar Bluff, son of the late William Dallas and Bonnie Wright Riddle, he was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army Air Force for four years. He was a retired butcher and meat department manager at Fords Meat Shop in Cape Girardeau, and also co-owner of the first Town & Country grocery store in Advance for many years.

On Jan. 26, 1940, in Cape Girardeau, he married Mary Emma Hawes who preceded him in death on May 6, 1982.

Survivors include: two daughters, Cheryl Smith of Marble Hill and Rita Cato of Glen Allen; one brother, Charles E. Riddle of Rockford, Ill.; two sisters, Betty Moore of Malden and Doris Fluesmeier of St. Charles; and three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Also preceding him in death are five brothers, three sisters, a son and a grandson.

Services are scheduled for 2 p.m. today at the Morgan Funeral Chapel in Advance with the Rev. Fred Ritter and Dianna Cook officiating.

Burial will follow in the Morgan Memorial Park.
