SIKESTON -- One person is in custody after the robbery of a Sikeston pharmacy and attempted robbery of another on Friday.

Sikeston Department of Public Safety Director Drew Juden announced the arrest Tuesday afternoon, however, the name was not released pending the filing of formal charges.

The arrest was made by authorities in Poplar Bluff and the suspect was taken into custody without incident. The suspect's vehicle was also located and has been seized as evidence in connection with the crime.

The arrest stems from two incidents Friday evening. The first was an attempted robbery that occurred at Medicap on North Main at 5:47 p.m. The second was a robbery at the Medicine Shoppe on South Main at 5:53 p.m.

According to Juden, numerous calls were made to help authorities identify the suspect. He again emphasized the importance of citizen cooperation in regards to the case.
