James Haynes
BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - James Robert Haynes, 63, died Aug. 27, 2002, at St. Joseph Medical Center in Bloomington.
Born Jan. 29, 1939, in Charleston, son of Virginia Killingham of St. Louis, Mo., and the late Charles Wilkes Haynes, he was raised in St. Louis where he attended Hanley Technical School. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he was employed by Bridgestone Firestone and was a member of Mount Pisgah Baptist Church in Bloomington.
On Dec. 24, 1978, he married Betty Lawrence who survives of the home.
Survivors in addition to his wife and mother include: six sons, James R. Haynes Jr. and Marvin Haynes of Minneapolis, Minn., Andrew D. Johnson, Jon R. Haynes and Shawn D. Haynes of Bloomington and James R. Phillips of South Bend, Ind.; four daughters, Cynthia Davis and Norma Buckner of St. Louis, Wanda Green of Minneapolis and Robin A. Haynes of Bloomington; two brothers, Anthony Killingham and William H. Killingham Jr. of St. Louis; three sisters, Vernice Roane of Silver Springs, Md., Brenda Hodge of Virginia and Claudia Killingham of St. Louis; his stepfather, William Killingham of St. Louis; and 41 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday at Mount Pisgah Baptist Church in Bloomington.
Visitation is from noon until 2 p.m. Tuesday at Sparks Funeral Home in Charleston, Mo.
The Military Honors Program will conduct graveside military rites Tuesday at Oak Grove Cemetery, where Elder Steve Betts will conduct graveside services.
