SIKESTON - According to Dess Blomfield, manager of the Sikeston Gin Company, three bales of cotton were ginned this week for Grover Baker and one for the Buckeye Plantation.

BLOOMFIELD (AP) - The Justice Department directed the FBI Wednesday to investigate alleged vote frauds in Stoddard County in connection with the Aug. 7 primary.


SIKESTON - Miss Beverly Ann Cockrell, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Herbert E. Yancy of Sikeston, was recently notified of her acceptance at Barnes Hospital School of Nursing in St. Louis.

SIKESTON - Pat Lea, president of the First National Bank in Sikeston, has been re-elected to the board of directors of the Missouri Chamber of Commerce, according to announcement Friday by Ron Roberson of Jefferson City, chamber president.


SIKESTON - SeMo Christian Academy started classes Monday under the direction of a new principal, Ken Roberts. Also new this year is a seventh grad class which has been added to the preschool through sixth grade levels of education, and a gymnasium/cafeteria building.

JACKSON - Cynthia Lee Barnett, 17-year-old daughter of David Barnett and Sandra Mock, was crowned Homecomers Queen and awarded $150 during Jackson's Homecoming Fair activities. Second runner-up is Valerie Boyd of Sikeston, who was awarded $50. Angela Scherer of Cape Girardeau was first runner-up and received $100.


SIKESTON - The Scott County Transit System has purchased a new bus for its senior patrons. Donations from local organizations, individuals and fund-raisers helped purchase the bus.
