Thelma Litchford
WYATT - Thelma Louise Murphy Litchford, 77, died at 10:45 p.m. Aug. 31, 2002, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
Born Aug. 29, 1925, in Mississippi County, daughter of the late Tandy Baxter and Elsie Mae St. Clair Murphy, she lived in Mississippi County most of her life and was a member of the Wyatt Baptist Church. She and her husband owned and operated the Litchford Service Station in Charleston for many years and she retired from Burkhart Foam Company in Cairo, Ill. Litchford was also a carrier for the Daily Standard in Sikeston for several years.
On Aug. 5, 1941, she married Dale Reeves who preceded her in death.
Survivors include: one daughter, Vickie Ice of Mounds, Ill.; three brothers, Roy Murphy of Portland, Ore., Cecil Murphy of Phoenix, Ariz., and Rexford Murphy of Sikeston; four sisters, Essie Mullins of Wyatt, Ann Monzick of Buffalo, N.Y., Mildred Krauss of Carlisle, Pa., and Helen Ure of Wichita,, Kan.; three grandsons, Thomas Richard Barnes and Stacy Bryant Ice of Mounds and Darren Lee Ice of Quincy, Ill.; and two great-grandchildren, Breanna Ellen Ice of Mounds and Colt Jeffery Ice of Quincy.
Also preceding her in death were one son, Ricky Reeves Litchford; one daughter, Ann Litchford; and five brothers and two sisters.
Visitation begins at 5 p.m. today at Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie where services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday with Bill Bradley officiating.
Burial will follow in the IOOF Cemetery near Charleston.
Pallbearers will be: Cory Cates, Bill Helton, Scott Cross, John Cross, Melaine Hurt and Richard Davis.
D.J. Mullins will serve as honorary pallbearer.
