Shirley Klipfel

BENTON - Shirley Clara Klipfel, 63, died at 6:20 a.m. Aug. 31, 2002, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.

Born Jan. 16, 1939, in Kelso, daughter of the late Marcus and Clara Johanna Compas Schaefer, she was a self-employed crafter. She was a member of St. Denis Catholic Church and St. Ann's Sodality.

On June 14, 1958, at Kelso, she married Lawrence James Klipfel who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: five sons, Kenneth Klipfel of Kelso, Rick Klipfel, Tom Klipfel and Mark Klipfel of Benton and Jim Klipfel of Scott City; two brothers, Harold Schaefer of Houston and Alfred Schaefer of Kansas City; two sisters, Dorothy Dannenmueller of Scott City and Rose Marie Halter of Benton; and six grandchildren.

One brother and one granddaughter preceded her in death.

A funeral Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m. today at St. Denis Catholic Church with the Rev. Normand Varone officiating.

Burial followed in the St. Denis Cemetery.
