Jake Hamby

DEXTER - Jake Freeman Hamby, 76, died Oct. 29, 2002, at Cypress Point Healthcare in Dexter.

Born April 27, 1926, in Bloomfield, son of the late Jesse Cobert and Geneva Fitzpatrick Hamby, he lived in the Bloomfield area most of his life and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

On June 28, 1947, he married Imogene Taylor who preceded him in death on Aug. 20, 2000.

Survivors include: one daughter Rhonda Wyatt of Bloomfield; two sisters, Hazel Robinson and Vevlean Clary of Dexter; and four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield, where services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday. The Rev. Rick Patterson will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Hills Cemetery near Bloomfield.
