J.D. Baker
SIKESTON - James D. Baker, 74, died Oct. 28, 2002, at his home.
Born May 10, 1928, in Clines Island, son of the late George R. and Inez Hicks Baker, he was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and was of the Baptist belief. He was a self-employed mechanic and was a teacher at the Sikeston Vocational Center before retiring.
On March 25, 1984, he married Fran E. Romine Cutrell who survives of the home.
He was also preceded in death by one son, George Baker.
Other survivors include: one son, James D. Baker II of Sikeston; one stepson, Robert S. Cutrell, stationed with the U.S. Air Force at Scott Air Force Base, Ill., two grandchildren, Rhiannon Baker Wilson of Cairo, Ill., and James D. Baker III of Sikeston; two stepgrandchildren, Destiny Cutrell and Shaylann Cutrell of Scott Air Force Base; and one great-grandchild, Mia Baker of St. Louis.
Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Ponder Funeral Home, where services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday. The Rev. Dolan Rogers, pastor of the Sikeston Community Church, will officiate, assisted by the Rev. Larry Rouse.
Full military honors will be conducted at Memorial Park Cemetery in Sikeston.
