COLUMBIA -- Sikeston senior heavyweight Joe Johnson failed to medal in his final trip to the Missouri High School state wrestling championships in Columbia.

Johnson, a two-time state medalist, was edged on a 7-6 decision by Raymore-Peculiar's Levi Thompson in a third-round consolation match on Saturday.

Johnson, 2-2 in this year's state competition, garnered six points to place Sikeston 33rd in the Class 3 team standings.

Park Hill won the Class 3 team title with 185 points, Farmington was fifth with 103, Cape Central tied for 35th with three and Poplar Bluff, failing to score, tied for last.

Oak Park captured the Class 4 team championship with 177 points while Jackson finished seventh with 61.

Jackson's Cody Rouse completed an undefeated season at 52-0 with an individual title in the 152-pound division.

In Class 2, Dexter finished in a tie for 38th with five points. Platte County won the team title with 166.

New Madrid County Central was 33rd in Class 1 with nine points. Richmond placed first with 141.5.
