Willard Middleton

CAPE GIRARDEAU -- Willard Middleton, 92, died Oct. 21, 2002, at the Missouri Veterans Home.

Born July 2, 1910, in Gideon, son of the late Ernest and Elizabeth Launius Middleton, he lived in East St. Louis, Ill., for many years before moving to Southeast Missouri 21 years ago and retired from Cerro Brass and Copper. He served with the U.S. Army Infantry during World War II and was the recipient of two Bronze Stars, one Silver Star, a Purple Heart and a Good Conduct Medal.

Survivors include: one brother, Robert Plummer of Bloomfield; one nephew, Robert Plummer of St. Charles; and one niece, Joyce Sanders of Dexter.

One sister, Iva Sharp, preceded him in death.

Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, where services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Thursday. The Rev. Everett Bishop of Dexter will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Hagy Cemetery in Dexter.
