Jimmie Chandler
CHARLESTON - Jimmie J. Chandler, 64, died at 8:05 p.m. Dec. 1, 2002, at the Charleston Manor.
Born April 30, 1938, at Caraway, Ark., son of Ernestine House Chandler of Bertrand and the late Joel C. Chandler, he lived in Charleston most of his life. He was a mail carrier with the U.S. Postal Service in the Charleston Post Office for 15 years before retiring in 1996. Chandler also retired from the U.S. Navy and served in the Vietnam War. He was of the Baptist belief.
On Dec. 31, 1960, he married Rosella "Rosie" Scheffer who survives of the home.
Survivors in addition to his wife and mother include: one son, Jimmie J. Chandler Jr. of Sikeston; one daughter, Angel Schwieger of Charleston; two sisters, Helen Ezzell of Bertrand and Beverly Stark of rural Charleston; and one granddaughter, Jade Schwieger of Charleston.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Dody Hook.
Relatives and friends will assemble at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the IOOF Cemetery near Charleston for graveside services. The Rev. Gerald Collier, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Charleston, will officiate.
