CHARLESTON - Dorothy Inez Lane, 77, died May 18, 2002, at her home.

Born Feb. 15, 1925, in Blodgett, daughter of the late Oscar Olin and Willie Smith Gilliland, she lived at Charleston Route 2 most of her life and was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church in Diehlstadt.

On Dec. 24, 1941, she married Thomas Lee Layne who preceded her in death on Jan. 28, 1983.

She was also preceded in death by one son, Jimmy Layne and one sister.

Survivors include: two daughters and sons-in-law, Dorothy and Eddie Wade of Charleston Route 2 and Vicki and David Howard of Cape Girardeau; two brothers, Fred Gilliland of Sikeston and Clifford Gilliland of Hattiesburg, Miss.; one sister, Ruby Gage of Ravenna, Ohio; and five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston, where services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday. The Rev. Gerald Collier, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Charleston, will officiate.

Burial will follow in the IOOF Cemetery near Charleston.

Pallbearers will be: Bill O'Guin, Kemp Slaten, Terry Shoffner, Tom Wade, Elgin McMikle and Richard Layne.
