Moon Ferguson

SIKESTON -- Solomon "Moon" Ferguson, 65, died Feb. 21, 2003, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

Born June 15, 1937, in Cleveland, Ohio, son of the late Soloman Ferguson Sr. and Arliler Yarber Ferguson, he was a self-employed painter.

Survivors include: two sons, Raymond Ferguson of Kansas City and Andre Williams of St. Louis; two daughters, Tonya Carlis of the state of Texas and Gabriel Quinn of Charleston; eight brothers, Jethero Gater and Moses Gater of Sikeston, Ezell Ferguson of Cape Girardeau, Jerry Gater of Kansas City, B.B. Gater and John Gater of Oxford, Miss., and Webster Gater and Willie Gater of Chicago, Ill.; four sisters, Lottie Baker of St. Louis, Ruth Bates of Kansas City, Mary Carothers of Chicago and Martha Carothers of Oxford; and one grandson.

Visitation is from noon Wednesday service time at 1 p.m. at West End Missionary Baptist Baptist Church in Sikeston. The Rev. Chester Yarber will officiate.

Burial will follow in Sunset of Memories Cemetery.

Williams-Farr and Purnell Funeral Home of Sikeston is in charge of arrangements.
