Evelyn M. Black

BARNHART - Evelyn Marie Black, 83, died at 9:30 p.m. Feb. 21, 2003, at the home of her daughter in Charleston.

Born Dec. 30, 1919, at Harlan, Iowa, to the late Lars C. and Dorthea Nielsen Gravesen, she had lived in the Barnhart area most of her life.

She was married to Sherman W. Black, who preceded her in death in May 1993.

Surviving are: one son, Larry J. Black of St. Louis; one daughter and son-in-law, Sharron V. and Wayne Black of Charleston; and five grandchildren, Lowell D. Friend, Oral R. Friend, Paul A. Black, Julie K. Chadbourne and Nathan E. Black; and nine great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Kutis South County Chapel, 5255 Lemay Ferry Road, Butler Hill, where services are scheduled at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Burial will follow in the Shepherd Hills Cemetery at Imperial.

McMikle Funeral Home of Charleston was in charge of local arrangements.
