Gene Holder Sr.
SCOTT CITY - Eugene Ivan "Gene" Holder Sr., 73, died at 12:05 a.m. Sept. 4, 2002, at the Chaffee Nursing Center.
Born March 30, 1929, in St. Louis, son of the late James Tipton and Elsie May Taylor Holder II, he was a riverboat engineer and member of the Apostolic Lighthouse Church in Scott City.
On Dec. 12, 1991, at Benton, he married Catherine Ann Harris who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: two sons, Gene Holder Jr. and Rick Holder of St. Louis; one daughter, Sharon Holder of Farmington; three stepsons, Darrel Hanshew and Larry Hanshew of Scott City and Dennis Hanshew of Tamms, Ill.; one sister, Jaqueline Owens of Chesterfield, Ill.; and eight grandchildren.
Two brothers and one sister preceded him in death.
Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City, where services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday. The Rev. Robert Smithey will officiate.
Burial will follow in Lightner Memorial Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be: Joe Scott, Tom Godwin, Vernon Smith, Justin McAlister, Howard Stevens and Kenny Enderle.
