Ernest Lewis
PORTAGEVILLE -- Ernest Gaines Lewis, 52, died July 1, 2002.
Born Nov. 6, 1949, at Morrilton, Ark., son of William L. Lewis of Gideon and the late Vivian Faye Bizzell Lewis, he was employed by Noranda Aluminum and was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during the Vietnam War.
On July 14, 1989, in Blytheville, Ark., he married Patty Stanford who survives of the home.
In addition to his wife and father, survivors include: two sons and daughters-in-law, Ernie and Stacy Lewis of Portageville and Jim and Joy Bruner of Olive Branch, Miss.; four brothers, William E. Lewis of DeSoto, Jerry Lewis of Dittmer, Cecil Lewis of Wardell and Robert Lewis of Bragg City; one sister, Mary F. Keown of Gideon; and four grandchildren, Brooke Casey Bruner, Timothy James Bruner and Ian Matthew Bruner of Olive Branch and Cody William Lewis of Portageville.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Eugene Lewis; and one sister, Helen Dodd.
Visitation is at 6 p.m. today at DeLisle Funeral Home in Portageville.
Services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday at the First Baptist Church in Portageville, with the Rev. Mark Inman officiating.
Burial will follow at the Portageville Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be: Larry Palmer Jr., Ronnie Adams Jr., Daniel Roberts, Larry Swilley, Mark Brands and Jerome Ellis.
Honorary pallbearers will be: Larry Nolen, Larry Prince, James "Buck" Breece, Larry Duckworth, David Butler and Jerry Scherer.
