Steve Whitsel

DEXTER - Steve Whitsel, 50, died Jan. 30, 2003, at the Three Rivers Healthcare South Campus in Poplar Bluff.

Born June 9, 1952, in Sikeston, son of Wanda Jean Gunter Trout of Puxico and the late Marion Maurice Whitsel, he graduated from Puxico High School and served with the U.S. Air Force for 24 years.

Survivors in addition to his mother include: two sons, Stephen Dale Whitsel II of Marion, Ill., and Michael Christopher Whitsel of New Baden, Ill.; one daughter, Joyce Rena Shen of Trenton, Ill.; two brothers, Larry Whitsel of Puxico and Kent Whitsel of Peyton, Colo.; his former wife, Joyce Whitsel of New Baden; three grandchildren; and two special friends, Brenda Blankenship and Nikki Baugher of Dexter.

Services were conducted at 1 p.m. today at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter with the Rev. Jerry Metcalf of Puxico, officiating.

Burial followed in the Sadler's Cemetery near Dexter.
