Jake Swift

HAYWARD - George Eugene "Jake" Swift, 88, died Feb. 2, 2003, at the Portageville Nursing Center.

Born Nov. 26, 1914, in Portageville, he was the son of the late George Eugene "Jake" and Nora Magers Swift.

On Jan. 25, 1935, in Hayti, he married Mary Mildred "Babb" Swift who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: three sons, Gilbert Swift of Hayward, George E. Swift of Jacksonville, Fla., and James E. "Jim" Swift of Portageville; one daughter, Marilyn Jo Swift Nabors of Smithsville, Miss.; and five grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Visitation begins at 6 p.m. today at DeLisle Funeral Home in Portageville, where services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday with the Rev. Mark Inman, officiating.

Burial will follow in the Portageville Cemetery.
