Marion Bates
PARMA - Marion Frank Bates, 78, died Jan. 15, 2003, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
Born Sept. 16, 1924, in Blytheville, Ark., son of the late John and Mary Katherine Burnett Bates, he was a retired farmer and member of the Parma General Baptist Church, Masonic Lodge 212, the Scottish Rite and was also a Shriner.
On Feb. 10, 1945, in Blytheville, he married Dorothy Glover who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: one daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and Steve Long of Parma; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Marion Dewayne and Joyce Bates of Elgin, Ill., and Royce Bates of Dothan, Ala.; one brother, J.W. Bates of Oak Creek, Wis.; two sisters, Virginia Arrington of Franklin Park, Ill., and Jewell Moore of Mercedes, Texas; and seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation begins at 6 p.m. today at Bradshaw Funeral Home in Malden, where services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday. The Rev. Joe Williams will officiate.
Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery in Malden.
