MATTHEWS -- Charles A. Daniels, 79, died Feb. 9, 2003, at the Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.

Born May 25, 1923, in Lawrenceburg, Tenn., son of the late Jess and Maude Newton Daniels, he was a farmer in the Matthews area for approximately 50 years before retiring.

On March 11, 1950, he married Patsy Peterson who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: one daughter Cecilia Earhart of Euless, Texas; three sons, Chuck Daniels, Fred Daniels and Tim Daniels of Matthews; one daughter-in-law, Brenda Daniels of Matthews; two sisters, Martha Wilton of Apollo Beach, Fla., and Kathleen Lollar of North Fort Myers, Fla.; and 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

One son, Robert Daniels, and three sisters, Christine Hayes, Alma Jean Curtis and Marie Daniels, preceded him in death.

Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston where services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Tuesday with Mike Cartwright officiating.

Burial will follow in the Matthews Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be: Lee Beck, Josh Daniels, Chuck Earhart, Jeff Pierce, Marcus Sutton and Lance Lawson.

Honorary pallbearers will be: Charles Hawkins, Jerry Vann, Clyde Hawes, Woodrow Beck, Douglas Moore and James Ward.
