Mary Shuffit

BENTON - Mary Ellen Shuffit, 81, died at 9:45 a.m. Feb. 8, 2003, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

Born Sept. 20, 1921, in Morley, daughter of the late George and Birdie O'Neal Miles, she was a clerk for 41 years with the Scott County Health Department. She was a member of the Benton United Methodist Church and VFW Ladies Auxiliary in Morley.

On July 26, 1951, she married J.W. Shuffit who preceded her in death in April 1980.

She is survived by a daughter, Mary Stallings of Benton.

Two brothers, four sisters and one grandson also preceded her in death.

Visitation is from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Benton.

Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. at the Old Morley Cemetery with the Rev. Jim Matthews officiating.
