POPLAR BLUFF - The Sikeston 9th grade basketball team closed out its season on Friday night with a 61-52 win against Poplar Bluff at E.T. "Pete" Peters Gymnasium.

The game was a makeup game from the postponed Poplar Bluff Junior High Invitational. The win by Sikeston clinched first place in the tournament, improving the Bulldogs to 11-3.

Sikeston dominated the game, leading 19-10 after one quarter and 38-20 at the half.

As the Bulldog reserves played most of the second half, Poplar Bluff slowly crept back into the game, cutting the lead to 51-36 heading into the fourth quarter.

The Mules got as close as nine but couldn't get any closer in the fourth quarter. Kash Bratcher scored all 15 of his points in the first half, including three 3-pointers.

Trey Spence followed up with 12 points and Travis Hudson added 11 points.
