CHAFFEE -- Velma Irene Rainey, 81, died at 7:45 a.m. Nov. 3, 2002, at the Chaffee Nursing Center.
Born July 24, 1921, at Haleyville, Ala., daughter of William and Alice Elizabeth Flanagan Head, she was a member of the Mount Auburn Christian Church in Cape Girardeau and Gold Star Mothers with the Veterans of Foreign War.
On March 19, 1981, at Corinth, Miss., she married Walter Rainey who preceded her in death on Feb. 22, 1987.
Survivors include: two sons, Randy Rainey of Chaffee and Tracy Rainey of Honolulu, Hawaii; two daughters, Nancy Clark of Pontiac, Ill., and Phyllis Arrowsmith of Beebee, Ark.; one stepson, Carl Rainey of Peach Tree, Ga.; one brother, Wallace Head of Chaffee; three sisters, Della Cobb of Chaffee, Sue Angle of Advance and Shirley Statler of Oviedo, Fla.; and six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
One son and three sisters also preceded her in death.
Visitation is from 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee until service time at 1 p.m. The Rev. Sonny Keesee will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Union Park Cemetery in Chaffee.
Pallbearers will be: Randy Rainey, Rocky Rainey, Don Leggett, Randy Morris, Joey Burton and Dale Williams.
