Vern Green

BLOOMFIELD - Ernest Vern Green, 87, died Dec. 28, 2004, at the John J. Pershing Veterans Administration Medical Center at Poplar Bluff.

Born March 30, 1917, near Puxico to the late Clarence Alvin Green and Nellie May Creed Green, he was a retired farmer, residing near Bloomfield. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving in the infantry during World War II.

On May 5, 1944, at Barnstable, England, he married Hilda Ellen Dockree, who survives of the home near Bloomfield.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by: two sons, David Vern Green of Bloomfield and Glenn Alvin Green of Puxico; one daughter, Kathleen Ellen Green of Puxico; one brother, Lowell W. Green of Bloomfield; three sisters, Edmona Evans of Puxico and Ernestine Helen Button and Ethel Eunice Blue of St. Louis; and five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter where services will be at 10 a.m. Friday. The Rev. Jerry Parks will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery near Puxico.
