Winona Davis
PARMA - Winona Davis, 94, died Nov. 26, 2002, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
Born Jan. 8, 1908, in Eldorado, Ill., daughter of the late Nickolas and Elizabeth O'Conner Goebel, she was an elementary teacher at Lilbourn and New Hope Schools before retiring. She was a member of St. Ann Church in Malden and St. Ann's Elder Society.
On July 13, 1929, in Akron, Ohio, she married Virgil Richard Davis who preceded her in death on May 28, 1992.
Survivors include: two sons, James Davis of Parma and Richard Davis of Carterville, Ill.; three daughters, Claudine Datillo of Memphis, Tenn., Charlotte Walhermfechtel of St. Louis and Marcia Bates of Sikeston; three sisters, Agnes Zinzer, Helen Di Manuele and Marie Hobbs, addresses unavailable; one brother, Nick Goebel Jr., address unavailable; and 16 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Also preceding her in death were two daughters, Hazel Duffy and June Klein; one son, Darrell Davis; three brothers, Clem Goebel, Leonard Goebel and Haldon Goebel; and one sister, Katherine Maxwell.
Visitation is from 6 to 9 p.m. today at Landess Funeral Home in Malden, where a rosary recitation is scheduled for 7 p.m.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Ann Church with the Rev. Glenn Eftink officiating.
Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery at Malden.
