Jack Estes

PORTAGEVILLE - Virgil L. "Jack" Estes, 94, died Jan. 19, 2003, at Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center in Kennett.

Born Nov. 16, 1908, in Portageville, he was the son of the late Dege Franklin and Susie Elizabeth Welch Estes.

On March 25, 1948, he married Mary M. Simmons who preceded him in death on Feb. 23, 1993.

Survivors include: four sons, Virgil L. Estes, Jack J. Estes and Randy J. Estes of Portageville and Dennis S. Estes of Irving, Texas; six daughters, Susan Spencer, Patty Johnson, Georgia Young and Sharon Ward of Portageville, Myra Nowell of Lake Wappapello and Jane Latham of Wentzville; and one brother, Bill Estes of Portageville; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by one son, Freddie Estes; four brothers, Braz Estes, Lex Estes, Tom Estes and Felix Estes; and two sisters, Georgia Estes Henning and Mary E. Estes.

Visitation begins at 6 p.m. today at DeLisle Funeral Home, where services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday with the Rev. Mark Inman, officiating.

Burial will follow in the Portageville Cemetery.
