SIKESTON - A daughter was born to Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Moser Thursday and a son was born to Mr. and Mrs. Brooks Oliver Monday at the Sikeston General Hospital.
CAPE GIRARDEAU - For the first time in 15 years, the Cape Central Tigers are victors over the Bulldogs. Cape surprised everyone, including themselves, as they flew past the Bulldogs by a score of 32-0.
SIKESTON - Eight members of Sikeston Senior High School have been selected by the student body with the assistance of the facility and the Growler staff as outstanding students of the school. Seniors chosen are: David Lewis, Melinda Bucher, Richard Capman and Linda Byrd. Juniors are Mike Zaricor, Ruth Ann Roberts, Lynn Lancaster and Cherie Pasaka.
SIKESTON - No second thoughts from Cape Central coach Gary Lynch. When a trick play failed on a two-point conversion attempt, his Tigers narrowly missed an upset against the Sikeston Bulldogs Friday, losing 14-13. The win makes Sikeston 1-0 in district.

SIKESTON - The First United Methodist Church, 1307 N. Main St., celebrated its 125th anniversary Sunday. Representing the founding families by placing items in a time capsule were Kendall Sikes, John Sikes and Annette French. A special video presentation marking the church's presence in Sikeston, special music, the burial of the time capsule and the release of 125 anniversary balloons were highlights of the celebration.
