Essie Scott

NEW MADRID - Essie Scott, 85, died Dec. 20, 2004, at the Beverly Health Care in New Madrid.

Born Oct. 17, 1919, in Turrell, Ark., to the late William Bruce and Rosie Poole, she was a member of the Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church.

Her husband, Algin Scott, preceded her in death on April 19, 1968.

She was also preceded in death by two children, Berdie Smith and Jimmie Lee Scott; four sisters; one brother; and two granddaughters.

Survivors include: one son, Robert A. Taylor of New Madrid; three daughters, Bernice Scott of New Madrid, Mary Smart of the state of Indiana and Brenda Wheeler of Bernie; and 25 grandchildren, 51 great-grandchildren and 31 great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from noon until time for services at 1 p.m. Monday at the Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church. The Rev. Leotis Akins will officiate.

Burial will be the Evergreen Cemetery.
