Al Alfultis

NIXA - Sherrill E. "Al" Alfultis, 59, died at 4 a.m. Jan. 26, 2003, following an extended illness.

Born June 26, 1943, in Sikeston, son of Helen Duncan Alfultis Gambill of St. Louis and the late Morris Alfultis, he was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War and recipient of Army decorations. He was a drag strip racer and award winning fishing guide.

Survivors in addition to his mother include: one son and daughter-in-law, Kevin E. and Cathy Alfultis of St. Louis; one daughter and son-in-law, Cynthia Gayle and Gene Baltzell of Jackson; one sister, Judy Fears of Fenton; one brother, Robert Alfultis of St. Louis; two grandchildren; and a special friend, Sharron Baumgartner of Ozark.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Marilyn Gill.

The Army National Guard Honor Guard conducted military rites during graveside memorial services at 11 a.m. today at the Jones-Chastain Cemetery near Nixa.

Adams Funeral Home of Nixa was in charge of arrangements.
