Helen Boone

CAPE GIRARDEAU - Helen Sharp Boone, 91, formerly of New Madrid, died May 17, 2002, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

Born Sept. 26, 1910, in Marston, daughter of the late Floyd Edward and Mabel Barnes Sharp, she was a nurse for the New Madrid County R-1 School District. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and Lucy Jefferson Lewis Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution in New Madrid.

On April 30, 1936, in New Madrid, she married George Dawson Boone who preceded her in death on March 19, 1963.

Three brothers and three sisters also preceded her in death.

Survivors include: one son, William Edward "Bill" Boone of Dexter; two daughters, Ella Hunter Underwood of Huntsville, Ala., and Helen Clair Schott of Cape Girardeau; one sister, Cora Jett of Poplar Bluff; and 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

A funeral Mass was celebrated at 2 p.m. today at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with the Rev. Gerald Brown officiating.

Burial followed in the Evergreen Cemetery at New Madrid.
