Wava Roper

DEXTER - Wava L. Roper, 87, died Oct. 27, 2002, at Missouri Southern Healthcare.

Born March 3, 1915, near Bloomfield, daughter of the late Marshal Joseph and Margaret Pope Cox, she was a graduate of Dexter High School. She retired as a store clerk for Hurlus Cox Grocery and was a member of the Second General Baptist Church.

On June 29, 1934, in Dexter, she married Robert Roper who preceded her in death on Dec. 24, 1979.

Survivors include: three nephews, C.A. Cox of Sebring, Fla., Sam Cox of Chesterfield and Jerry Cox of Arlington, Tenn.; and one sister-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Three brothers, Cletus Cox, Hurlus Cox and Linus Cox, also preceded her in death.

Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter, where services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday. The Rev. Vyron Yount will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Dexter Cemetery.
