No conspiracies, yet no apologies

Thursday, October 18, 2007

We hicks here in the Midwest probably have heard little if anything about Randi Rhodes but she's a leading liberal talk show host on Air America, the failed attempt to counter Rush Limbaugh, et. al. Anyway, Ms. Rhodes is a flaming liberal who makes ample enemies among the conservative population but then again, that's her job.

Well, a couple of days ago Ms. Rhodes - a New York resident - apparently went outside of her apartment to walk her dog and was mugged. She ended up in a hospital with a few less teeth.

Never one to ignore a conspiracy, other Air America hosts began to wonder out loud if some right wing nut had decided to silence Ms. Rhodes.

One fellow host on the radio channel asked: "Is this an attempt by the right-

wing, hate machine to silence one of our own? Are we threatening them? Are they afraid that we're winning? Are they trying to silence and intimidate us?"

Only problem with this right-wing conspiracy is that it never happened. Ms. Rhodes now says there was no mugging, she simply fell while walking her dog. She was apparently somewhat dazed and confused and was unable to fully explain to police what had happened.

Before the truth finally surfaced, the left-wingers had a field day. They saw all sorts of conspiracies to silence their liberal friend and used the story to call every conservative "demented." And that was one of the nicer comments.

We hope Ms. Rhodes fully recovers from her injuries. We're happy that the incident was an unfortunate accident and unrelated to any political differences.

And meanwhile, we are still waiting for Air America to apologize. Thus far, they have not.
