Mattie Gribble

PORTAGEVILLE - Mattie Francis Gribble, 87, died Jan. 9, 2003, at her home.

Born May 26, 1915, in Rutherford, Tenn., she was the daughter of the late Sam and Liddie Savage White.

On May 21, 1932, in Hickman, Ky., she married Tom Gribble who preceded her in death on March 10, 1983.

Survivors include: four sons, Junior Gribble of Doniphan, Leon Gribble of Spavinaw, Okla., Thomas H. Gribble of Malden and Freddie Gribble of Dyersburg, Tenn.; seven daughters, Ruth Mayberry, Lois Rogers, Dorothy Watkins, Liddie Mae Moore and Linda White of Portageville; Ellen Lee Terrell of Bertrand and Carroll McLeroy of Gideon; and 49 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by one son, Lester Leo Gribble in 1937; and two brothers, Flaudie White and Morris White.

Visitation begins at 5 p.m. today at DeLisle Funeral Home, where services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday with the Rev. Bob Herrington, officiating.

Burial will follow in the Portageville Cemetery.
