CAPE GIRARDEAU - Alan Reece Stroup, 27, died at 2:18 a.m. Jan. 10, 2003, at Southeast Missouri Hospital, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

Born Nov. 11, 1975, in Cape Girardeau, son of Randy Stroup of Chaffee and Janice Thomas of Jacksonville, N.C., he was an aircraft mechanic for the Sabreliner Corporation in Perryville. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps for six years and had attained the rank of sergeant.

On May 25, 1996, he married Tara Payne who survives of the home.

Survivors in addition to his wife and parents include: two sons, Dalton Michael Stroup and Alan Joseph Stroup of Cape Girardeau; his stepmother, Deb Stroup of Chaffee; his stepfather, Edward Thomas of Jacksonville; one brother, Glendon Stroup of Scott City; maternal grandparents, Joe and Billie Minor of Chaffee; paternal grandmother, Jeanie Stroup of Chaffee; and his maternal great-grandmother, Mabel Alston of Chaffee.

Visitation begins at 4 p.m. today at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee, where services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday. The Rev. Charles Tennison will officiate.

Burial will follow in Union Park Cemetery.


An education fund is being established for the children. Donations may be sent to the Dalton and Alan Stroup Education Fund in care of Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel
