Inez Shoffner

BARDWELL, Ky. - Inez Pearson Shoffner, 85, formerly of East Prairie, Mo., died at 10:10 a.m. Jan. 8, 2003, at the Countryside Health Care Center in Bardwell.

Born July 12, 1917, in New Albany, Miss., daughter of the late Mark Hugh and Willa Vaughn Pearson, she lived in the East Prairie area most of her life, where she was a member of the First Baptist Church. She lived in Bardwell for the past five years.

Her husband, William Emmett Shoffner Sr., preceded her in death in 1964.

Survivors include: five sons, Ralph Shoffner of Hernando, Miss., William Emmett Shoffner Jr. of Fredericktown, Mo., David Shoffner of Charleston, Mo., Frank Shoffner of Seattle, Wash., and T.J. Shoffner of San Antonio, Texas; two daughters, Evelyn Housman of Benton, Mo., and Ann Pehm of Bardwell; one brother, Mack Pearson of Phoenix, Ariz.; two sisters, Hazel Lynch of Springfield, Mo., and Vivian Schneider of East Prairie; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Also preceding her in death were one son, Michael Allen Shoffner; one daughter, Aileen Hanor; two brothers, John C. Pearson and Kenneth Pearson; two sisters, Billie Layton and Claudia Howell; and one granddaughter, Rhonda Marie Pehm.

Graveside services were conducted at 2 p.m. today at Oak Grove Cemetery near Charleston. The Rev. George White, pastor of the First Baptist Church of East Prairie, officiated.

McMikle Funeral Home of Charleston was in charge of arrangements.
