Othel Porter
SIKESTON - Othel V. Porter, 83, died Dec. 29, 2002, at Missouri Delta Medical Center.
Born Nov. 5, 1919, in Doublesprings, Ala., daughter of the late Chester and Lecie Baldy Seymour, she was a member of the First Missionary Baptist Church in Matthews.
On Aug. 21, 1939, she married Raymond Porter who preceded her in death on Jan. 29, 1990.
Survivors include: one son, Johnny Porter of Piggott, Ark.; three daughters, Sue Nation of Matthews, Linda Yarbrough of Franklin, Tenn., and Sandy McCoy of Hendersonville, Tenn.; one brother, Billy Seymour of Texas; two sisters, Kay Johnson of Morley and Robbie Nichols of Illinois; and 13 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
One son, Michael Porter, preceded her in death.
Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. New Year's Day at Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston, where services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday. The Rev. Rodney Dunlap, pastor of the First Missionary Baptist Church of Matthews, will officiate. He will be assisted by the Rev. Kevin Murry, pastor of Emmanuel Baptist Church of Piggott.
Burial will follow in the Matthews Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons: Mark Nation, Eric Nation, Kerry Nation, Jim Yarbrough Jr., Daniel Porter and Justin Porter.
