John Shaw
SIKESTON - John Robert Shaw, formerly of Poynette, Wis., died Dec. 31, 2002, at Missouri Delta Medical Center.
Born Dec. 27, 1942, in Poynette, son of the late Warren and Mary Shaw, he lived on Lake Wisconsin for 20 years after his marriage, was actively involved in the Grade Boat and Snowmobile Club and also enjoyed hunting and fishing. He started his career as a cabinet maker in DeKorra Township and went on to run a cabinet shop for Fineline Specialist in Madison. He and his family later transferred to Ocala, Fla., where they lived for 12 years and John was employed by Good-Humor Breyers. He then transferred with Good Humor-Breyers to Sikeston where he was employed for a total of 19 years.
On July 29, 1961, he married Donna Jean Kleist of Portage, Wis., and she survives of the home in Sikeston.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Gordon Shaw and Peter Shaw; and one sister, Virginia Jay.
Other survivors include: two daughters, Lisa Shaw of the home and Susan Dubois of Sikeston; one son and daughter-in-law, John W. and Shanda Shaw of Fairdealing; two grandchildren, Matthew Grezik of Gainesville, Fla., and Amanda Grezik of Sikeston; two sisters-in-law, Madeline Shaw and Marlene Shaw of Wisconsin; his stepmother, Lucille Kleist Shaw of Poynette; and a very close friend, Angus McGillivary of Sikeston.
John enjoyed his work and his family; he was a very caring father, husband and grandfather. All that knew John will sadly miss him.
Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at Pflanz Matney and Mendrala Funeral Home in Poynette. The Rev. Sharon Smith, pastor of the First United Methodist Church in Poynette, will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Hillside Cemetery in Poynette.
